BHARAT RATNA means Jewel of India. The Bharat Ratna award goes to Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao (C.N.R. Rao) and Sachin Tendulkar. This 42nd and 43rd Bhart Ratna award is announced on 16th November, 2013 by Press Information Bureau.
The Indian Government has declared the highest civillian award, the Bharat Ratna award to an eminent scientist Prof. Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao and a cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. C.N.R. Rao is the Fourth scientist who receives this honerable award and Sachin is the first sportperson who gets this India’s Highest Civilian Award. C.N.R. Rao and Sachin Tendulkar has received Bharat Ratna award by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Durbar Hall at 12.00 pm on Tuesday, 4th February, 2014.
The Bharat Ratna award winner receives a Sanad signed by the President and a medallion. It does not carry any monetary grant.
Chintamani Nagesa Ramachandra Rao (C.N.R. Rao)
C.N.R. Rao said after received the Bharat Ratna award, “It is fantastic. It is more important than anything. Nothing comparable to India honouring me.”
C.N.R. Rao is the Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Rao’s birthdate is 30th June, 1934. His hometown is Bangalore, India. Rao has been an author of 45 books and over 1500 research papers. C.N.R. Rao has been received Bharat Ratna award for his exceptional contribution in Solid-state Chemistry Materials Science.
After receiving Bharat Ratna award, Sachin said, “This is the biggest honour. Extremely delighted at getting this award. I want to reiterate that I want to dedicate this award to my mother and all other mothers of India who sacrificed their aspirations so that their children’s dreams come true. I am extremely proud to be born in this beautiful nation and I would like to express my gratitude to all the love, affection and support I have received for number of years.”
Sachin’s full name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. His birthdate is 24th April, 1973. His hometown is Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Sachin’s nickname is Master Blaster, Little Master, God of Cricket and Tendlya. Sachin is a great cricket player. He is an all rounder. His test debut was against Pakistan on 15th November, 1989 and his last test was against West Indies on 14th November, 2013.
