The beginning of a ‘GOLDEN ERA’ of Miss World.
The first adition of Miss World organized as the festival Bikini Contest at the Lyceum Ballroom, London, England on 29th July, 1951. Eric Morley was a presenters of this event.
A Swedish model from Stockholm, Kerstin “Kiki” Hakansson crowned the First ever Miss World 1951 title at the First edition of Miss world festival Bikini Contest. She also reigned for 475 days, the longest time period in Miss World history. “Kiki” Hakansson was only one of the Miss World winner who received her crown in two piece Bikini.
Miss World 1951 Semifinalists :
Laura Ellison-Davies from UK won the First Runner-up Miss World 1951 title. Doreen Dawnw also from UK won the Second Runner-up Miss World 1951 title. Sabine Aime di Angelo from Holland won the Third Runner-up Miss World 1951 title. Aileen Chaswe from UK won the Fourth Runner-up Miss World 1951 title.
Almost 26 beauty contestants competed for the title of First edition of Miss World. 21 beauty contestants were from Britain and other 5 from Foreign countries. Lily Jacobson from Denmark, Jacqueline Lemoine from France, Sabine Aime di Angelo from Holland, Kerstin “Kiki” Hakansson from Sweden and Annette Gibson from United States.
